2025 DISSECTION PRE-COURSE
The skull base dissection course is designed for residents, fellows, and practicing skull base surgeons within the surgical specialties comprising the NASBS. Participants will have access to high-quality cadaveric specimens for hands-on dissection utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation. Proctoring will be provided by experts in skull base surgery who will demonstrate a wide variety of open and endoscopic skull base approaches with individual expert faculty supervision and mentorship. All participants will also receive training in the endoscopic carotid artery injury cadaveric simulation.
New this year, the course will be a half-day didactic and hands-on session on microvascular and nerve anastomosis. This session will feature expert didactic and hands-on teaching on both topics. Participants will be able to learn about the indications for both microvascular anastomosis and nerve graft anastomosis. They will then be able to practice hands-on microvascular and neural anastomosis in the lab, with expert faculty guidance. This addition to the course will provide a truly comprehensive skull base training experience.
