V070: MICROSURGICAL RESECTION OF TYPE 1 CLINOIDAL MENINGIOMA THROUGH AN EXTRADURAL MINIPTERIONAL APPROACH
Rafael Martinez-Perez; Geisinger
In type 1 clinoidal meningiomas, arachnoid around the tumor is not preserved and therefore, dissection around the optic nerve and internal carotid artery and distal branches is particularly challenging with a high risk of intraoperative rupture, stroke, or iatrogenic optic neuropathy. In this video, we show that by combining the benefits of the pre temporal peeling, resection of multicompartimental type 1 meningiomas is feasible through a minipterionala craniotomy.
