Annual Meeting – Greetings
Dear Colleague:
The scientific program is finalized. It is my hope that the meeting will attract a large number of out-of-country guests who will be able to participate actively in the academic sessions. The Pre-Meeting courses will be held from February 28-March 2, which will consist of a two day hands-on cadaver dissection workshop and a one day practical course. There will be dissection and videos on a wide array of subjects. An enthusiastic and helpful faculty will be in attendance.
There will be some changes in the academic program with fewer papers, more time for discussion, fewer panels with fewer participants to allow in depth discussions on topics, most of which should be of interest to all of the specialists represented in our Society. This will make for what I hope will be an exciting scientific and social event.
Yours sincerely,
Ian T. Jackson, MD
President
PS.. Please note that there will be a meeting of cranial base surgery coordinators and any other nursing or allied staff interested in this work. This will be a two day meeting with invited lecturers on key subjects and with plenty of time for discussion on the problems associated with organizing all aspects of skull base surgery including nursing, administrative, and reimbursement concerns. I would encourage all directors to send their coordinators or any others as stated above to this meeting as I think it will be extremely useful for them. I think that this is a group that should be encouraged to meet from time to time to discuss mutual problems and concerns
Dear Colleague:
It is my sincere pleasure to extend a personal invitation to all nurses, coordinators and allied health professionals involved in the organization of a skull base team to a special two half-day session which will be held on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4, 2001, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The session begins on Saturday with exciting lectures by surgeons from the US and the UK. Sunday=s half day meeting will consists of presentations by nurses on information which is of specific interest to, and addresses the common practice concerns of nurses and coordinators.
Because cranial base surgery is a highly specialized field, it is the goal of our President to provide a forum for nurses and coordinators to network on topics such as coding, nursing considerations and outcomes, managed care, postoperative management issues and teaching methods for patient education. This special session will be included as part of the 12th Annual Meeting Registration for Allied Health Professionals, and will also allow the registrant to attend the various scientific sessions. I look forward to seeing you there!
