International Travel Scholarship
In order to promote international collaboration and provide educational opportunities for academic skull base surgeons from around the world, the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) proudly offers the International Travel Scholarship. This observership program is given annually and awards an international scholar in a junior faculty academic position $2,000 in travel funds, complimentary registration to attend the Pre-Meeting Dissection Course, complimentary registration to attend the Annual Meeting, and an opportunity to spend one week as a Visiting Scholar and guest of a NASBS member’s institution immediately following the Annual Meeting. Any additional fees are to be paid by the Visiting Scholar.
Please note that every effort will be made to accommodate an observership program of the awardee’s Institution of choice. Assignments will be made based on availability.
Each grant of US $2,000 will not fully cover the expenses of attending the Annual Meeting and the observership. The grantee is expected to provide additional funds to cover these costs.
The following individuals are NOT eligible to apply for these grants:
- Citizens of the USA, Canada, or Mexico.
- Foreign nationals who have previously attended the NASBS Annual Meeting.
- Individuals who are in residency programs.
- Individuals in private practice or not in an academic position.
Applications will be reviewed by the NASBS International Committee and notifications will be sent in October. If a successful candidate has to withdraw, e.g., because of visa denial or lack of additional funding, he/she must notify the NASBS immediately in writing by email to Alondra Renteria at [email protected].
North American Travel Scholarship
The North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) is pleased to announce a new program called the North American Travel Scholarship. Similar to our International Travel Scholarship, this program will offer an educational opportunity for neurosurgery residents, head & neck fellows, and junior faculty (defined as less than five years in practice) and who are citizens of the United States, Canada, and/or Mexico. Membership in the NASBS is a requirement for this scholarship. The objective of this program is to provide access to skull base scientific education and training at the NASBS annual meeting. The scholarship will be given annually in the amount of $1,000 for travel funds, complimentary registration to attend the Annual Meeting, and an opportunity to spend one week as a Visiting Scholar and guest of a NASBS member’s institution immediately following the Annual Meeting. Any additional fees are to be paid by the Visiting Scholar. The top candidate may also be eligible for complimentary registration in the Pre-Meeting Dissection Course if space is available, based on a determination by the NASBS Executive Committee.
