The Modern Clipper`s Dilemma: Selection, Avoidance, and Redemption
7th March, 2026, 08:35 - 09:35
Town & Country Ballroom AB

This session will explore the evolving role of microsurgical clipping in the management of cerebral aneurysms, with a focus on selecting appropriate cases in the era of endovascular dominance. Through case-based discussion and review of current data, participants will examine when to favor clipping, when to avoid it, and how to approach surgical management of endovascular failures. Emphasis will be placed on practical decision-making, anatomical nuance, and long-term outcomes.Neurosurgeons, endovascular specialists, neurosurgical trainees, and clinicians involved in cerebrovascular care who seek to refine their aneurysm management strategies in a hybrid treatment landscape.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Differentiate between cerebral aneurysm cases best treated with surgical clipping versus endovascular approaches based on current evidence and anatomical considerations.
  • Recognize aneurysm characteristics and clinical scenarios in which clipping should no longer be considered first-line treatment.
  • Formulate appropriate surgical strategies for managing aneurysms that have failed or recurred after endovascular treatment.
