Pre-Meeting Dissection Course - Day 1

The skull base dissection course is designed for residents, fellows and practicing surgeons within the surgical specialties comprising the NASBS. Participants will have access to high-quality fixed and injected cadaveric specimens for hands on dissection utilizing state of the art equipment and instrumentation. Proctoring will be provided by experts in skull base surgery who will demonstrate a wide variety of open and endoscopic skull base approaches with one-on-one table-side supervision and mentorship. All participants will receive training in the endoscopic carotid artery injury cadaveric simulation.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

• Describe the anatomical basis for most commonly performed skull base procedures.
• Perform the most frequently utilized open and endoscopic skull base approaches in a cadaveric model.
• Achieve proficiency in visualization and hemostasis using the endoscopic carotid artery injury simulator.
