Stereotactic Radiosurgery at the Skull Base
15th February, 2024, 08:00 - 17:00
M101
This course offers a comprehensive overview of stereotactic radiation therapy for skull base tumors with emphasis on practical application, technique, indications and complications. The course will be divided into two half day sessions focused on single-session Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (GK-SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) using advanced radiotherapy imaging and techniques. This course is targeted at neurosurgeons, neurootolaryngolists, medical physicists, radiation oncologists, fellows and residents interested in skull base stereotactic radiosurgery, and is an opportunity to expand the practitioner`s range of treatment options.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge on indications for radiosurgery at the skull base.
- List clinical and imaging expectations of outcomes.
- Describe how radiosurgery, resection, and observation are integrated into clinical care.
- Discuss the expected outcomes in individual patients and potential range of complications after skull base radiotherapy/radiosurgery.
- Apply the principles of stereotactic radiotherapy imaging, target delineation, dose planning and motion management for day to day management of skull base tumors.
