A moment of mentorship leads to a lifetime of impact.
The North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) is pleased to offer a mentorship program to provide encouragement and guidance to a new generation of skull base surgeons. Pairings will be made based upon specialty, primary goal of the mentee (career development, assistance with fellowship, research, or getting further involved in NASBS), and geographic location. Applicants who are not matched will be given top priority in later mentorship opportunities.
To be eligible for a match, participants must be located be in North America, be a member of the NASBS, and should be in residency, in a fellowship program, or in practice less than three years.
Mentors and mentees must commit to an initial one-on-one meeting during the Annual Meeting in order to set short- and long-term expectations, plus two more mentoring sessions at six-month intervals. The mentoring sessions may be in person, by phone, via email, Zoom or Skype, etc. The mentorship lasts one year however some matches stay in contact after their year has concluded.
The mentor participation is limited to those whose primary specialty is Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology/Head and Neck, Ophthalmology, Radiation Oncology, or Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Additional Information:
- Mentors will be given contact information of assigned mentee, and will be responsible to make contact for scheduling the in-person meeting at the Annual Meeting.
- At least two subsequent sessions should be held, at six-month intervals, with the second session occurring shortly before the next Annual Meeting.
