During your time in Sydney you will:
•Provide assistance in the medical and surgical care for rhinology patients admitted to the hospital, those in the outpatient clinic and those undergoing surgery under the care of the fellowship supervisors.
•Attend a fortnightly rhinology conference.
•Prepare and present 2 manuscripts on rhinology research topics.
•Assist with the three (3) rhinological courses at St Vincent’s Hospital:
Endoscopic Orbital/(alternating with Neureorhinology) Course – 4th weekend in January
Open Structured Rhinoplasty Workshop – 4th weekend in February
Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Course – 3rd weekend in August
Laboratory Research Opportunities
We have an active basic science lab but do not encourage clinical fellow to participate unless they have a special interest. A 12 mth clinical fellowship is busy and does not allow time for lab based research.
Prerequisite Training Required
You must be eligible for at least limited medical registration (http://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Process.aspx)
You do not need to have the USMLE or ECFMG to apply. However, most applicants will have these certifications as successful applicants are applying to other programs in North America. Applicants applying only to the Sydney Rhinology Fellowship are likely to be unsuccessful.
Applications close on the 1st of February each year, for the following year (ie. 1st February 2011 to start 1st Just 2012).
